Overview

Ripple and Frawg: The Seasonal Song is a 2-player co-op puzzle adventure game about a Frog and a Stoat working together to travel up-river. With the help of their magical instruments, they navigate through obstacles and change the seasons to progress to each new level.

As the team's Programming Lead, I've been doing a combination of higher-level management work and developing various mechanics and features.

My Contributions

  • Made a multiplayer plugin that used the Steam Multiplayer Subsystem to host or join games

    • Sadly, this was not developed further as we decided to focus on local co-op. However, I am working on developing a short multiplayer game with this subsystem.

  • Added helpful tools for playtesting including a character swap for debugging and a restart button

  • Developed the code for player movement including walking, sprinting, jump, double jump, and wall jump

  • Set up working local multiplayer with a shared camera that keeps both players within frame

  • Wrote documentation and video guides for using the repository and resolving build errors. Also helped others one on one when they have more specific issues with the engine

  • Helped others when they were stuck on programming/design related issues. Made myself available as the one to come to for help

  • Defined sprint goals with the other leads then broke then down into smaller defined chunks and helped assign those tasks to best fit the strengths of the group and stay on track for deadlines

  • Developed a shader that shows player outlines when there is an object blocking them from view of the camera and a screen fade transition for scene changes
